Claud Adkins Hatcher (August 20, 1876 – December 31, 1933) was an American businessman. He invented the RC (Royal Crown) brand of beverages. He was a Columbus, Georgia based pharmacist and son of grocer.
Through the family-owned Hatcher Grocery Company, Hatcher introduced a carbonated soft drink in 1905 called Royal Crown Ginger Ale. Other flavors, including their flagship cola, followed. In the same year a company was formed to bottle the popular drinks, Union Bottling Works.
Hatcher is buried in the Riverdale Cemetery in Muscogee County, Georgia. His will established the Pickett and Hatcher Educational Fund, a non-profit student lender.
